Irrigating with saline water boosts yields for a season and ruins the soil for years. In coastal and desert regions, desalinating irrigation water is not a luxury — it is the difference between land that produces and land that turns saline. We build desalination plants for agricultural projects, farms, hatcheries and poultry farms, with capacities calculated from the cultivated area, the crop and the irrigation system.

Irrigation Water Desalination

We set the target salinity according to the crop’s sensitivity, so we don’t desalinate more than necessary (extra cost) or less than necessary (damage to the crop and soil). The system is designed to work with storage tanks sized for the daily irrigation cycle.

We delivered a 75 m³/day seawater desalination plant for agricultural use in Al-Maya on Libya’s western coast.

Poultry Farms & Hatcheries

Poultry are highly sensitive to drinking-water quality, and any issue with salinity or bacterial contamination shows up immediately in growth rates and mortality. We supply desalination and disinfection systems for broiler and layer farms, such as our 300 m³/day poultry farm project in Misrata, which runs on well water with a salinity of 12,000 ppm.

Off-Grid Farms

At remote desert sites far from the grid, we take into account the power source and the available operating hours, and design the system and tanks accordingly — rather than assuming 24-hour continuous operation.

Protecting Membranes on Agricultural Well Water

Agricultural well water is often hard and contains iron or silica. We put in place a suitable pretreatment and chemical dosing program — ALS 2000S where silica is present and ALS 720 for most well water — because replacing membranes costs far more than protecting them.
