ALS 2000S — Silica Scale Inhibitor

Why Is Silica a Different Problem?
Most antiscalants deal with salts that precipitate as crystals — calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate, for example. Silica behaves differently: it polymerizes and forms a hard, glass-like layer that bonds to the membrane surface, and routine acid or alkaline cleaning cycles do not remove it.
Silica’s solubility limit is low (scaling typically begins above 120–150 ppm in the concentrate stream, depending on temperature and pH). That is why many plants in southern Libya and on deep wells hit a ceiling on recovery that they cannot exceed because of silica alone.
ALS 2000S is designed specifically for this case: it keeps silica dissolved and dispersed, allowing a higher recovery ratio without risking a silica layer on the membrane.

Dosage & Method of Use
Dosage is determined by the silica level in the raw water, the recovery ratio, temperature and pH — there is no single dose that fits every case, because silica behavior changes with these factors. Injected by a dosing pump in the pretreatment stage, before the membranes.
This case in particular deserves an engineering calculation before purchase. Send us your full water analysis (especially the SiO₂ value and temperature), and we’ll reply with the dosage and the maximum safe recovery ratio for your plant.
Packaging & Supply
ALS 2000S is supplied in 20 kg drums. It is produced to order for specific plants, so we recommend coordinating quantity and delivery date in advance.
