Sewage and industrial wastewater are not just waste to be disposed of — they are a recoverable water resource. At Al-Asas Al-Thameen for Water Treatment, we design and build treatment plants that turn wastewater into water fit for reuse in agricultural and landscape irrigation, cooling towers and industrial washing, in line with environmental discharge requirements in Libya.

Why Treat and Reuse Wastewater?

Because water in Libya is scarce and expensive. Every cubic meter you reuse is a cubic meter you don’t pump from a well, buy or desalinate. Factories, farms and hotels that use large volumes every day see a direct saving in operating costs from reuse, in addition to reducing environmental harm and protecting groundwater from contamination by untreated wastewater.

Sewage Treatment Plants

We build sewage treatment plants for residential communities, hotels, hospitals, schools, camps and factories that are not connected to a public sewer network. The system relies on aerobic biological treatment to remove organic load (BOD and COD) and suspended solids, followed by filtration and final disinfection with chlorine or UV to produce treated water that is safe for irrigation.

Plants are built with capacities starting from tens of cubic meters per day, and delivered either as a skid-mounted package plant or as concrete tanks, depending on project size and the space available on site.

Industrial Wastewater Treatment

Industrial wastewater differs from one factory to the next: oils and fats in food plants, dyes in textiles, heavy metals in metalworking and coating, and high organic loads in dairy and beverage production. That is why we always start with an analysis of the actual effluent, then build a dedicated system that may include oil separation and flotation, coagulation and flocculation to settle suspended solids, pH adjustment, sand and carbon filtration, and reverse osmosis when the goal is reuse in the industrial process itself.

Reusing Treated Water

The required water quality determines how advanced the treatment needs to be. For agricultural and garden irrigation, secondary treatment with disinfection is sufficient. For cooling towers and industrial washing, we add fine filtration and a chemical program to prevent scaling and corrosion. For reuse within the production line, we add a reverse osmosis stage to bring the water up to process-water specifications. With every system we supply the appropriate chemical program from the ALS product range, including antiscalants, disinfectants and pH control.

Project Delivery Stages

Stage 1
Wastewater Analysis
Measuring organic load, suspended solids, oils, pH, daily flow volume and operating hours.
Stage 2
Study & Design
Selecting the treatment route, sizing tanks and equipment, the process flow diagram, and the expected effluent quality.
Stage 3
Fabrication & Supply
Fabricating and assembling the system in our Misrata workshop, and supplying pumps, blowers, control panels and membranes.
Stage 4
Installation & Commissioning
On-site installation, electrical and mechanical connection, trial operation and biomass development until performance is stable.
Stage 5
Training & Handover
Training the site team on daily operation, chemical dosing and reading indicators, with an operation and maintenance manual.
Stage 6
Maintenance & Follow-Up
Periodic maintenance contracts, spare parts, operating chemicals and monitoring of treated-water quality.

Sectors We Serve With These Systems
